Men’s Behaviour Change Program

Kildonan’s Men’s Behaviour Change Program provides individual and group counselling for men who use violence against their families. 

These groups involve 20 weekly sessions support men take responsibility for their violence and abuse. The Program also provides support to those affected by the violence such as children, partners, ex-partners and other family members.

Kildonan adheres to service standards set out by No to Violence, the Victorian peak body of organisations working with men to end their violence against family members. 

For the women and children impacted by the behaviour of the male participating in the Men’s Behaviour Change groups, available services include:

  • Psychological education through the Stepping Out program
  • Supported playgroup sessions through The Sanctuary program
  • Individual counselling and advocacy
  • Support and information
  • Referral to appropriate services

 

How to access

These services are targeted to men (and their families) living and working in the areas of Banyule, Nillumbik, Darebin and Whittlesea. men from other areas can also attend.

Referral to the program can be via:

  • Self
  • Court mandated referral
  • Child Protection or Department of Corrections
  • Other Men’s Behaviour Change programs
  • Men’s Referral Service (MRS)
  • Men’s Active Referral Service (MARS)
  • Counselling orders from the Family Violence Intervention court - Heidelberg Magistrate’s Court
