Our TRAINING PACKAGES INCLUDE

Working with Hardship and Vulnerable Customers

Designed to help staff understand the definitions of vulnerable and hardship, including the realisation that the average person can find themselves in a vulnerable state, and that people move in and out of the vulnerable continuum throughout their lives. Training  helps develop sense of empathy and appropriate language/approaches in communicating with and achieving positive results from customers. It also provides referral sources for staff to give customers as and when appropriate.

DEALING WITH DIFFICULT SITUATIONS

Designed to build frontline staff capacity to understand increasingly complex customer issues, including traumatised and mentally ill customers, those experiencing family violence and those threatening self-harm. This one-day course equips staff with a general awareness of these issues and the tools to deal with them, including aggressive customers. It also provides referral sources for staff to give customers when appropriate.

DIVERSITY AT WORK

Australia is one of the world’s most culturally and linguistically diverse populations.  This environment shapes the way we work, the way we live and how we do business.  Diversity brings complexity, challenges and opportunities for service providers, businesses and governments. The Diversity at Work course is designed to enhance staff members’ understanding of Australia’s rich and diverse population and furnish them with tools and techniques to better communicate with customers. The course provides an overview of the diverse communities that make up our society, develops a broader acceptance of diversity in work and social contexts, builds on understanding around how money works in different communities, and provides coaching in productive conversations that respect cultural differences to achieve better business outcomes.

Addressing Family violence- a guide for managers (3 hour course)

Designed to equip people managers with skills and information to support staff and colleagues should the issue of family violence arise at the workplace. The session provides an understanding of family violence and coaches managers in how to recognise its signs, and how to address it with affected staff and colleagues. It provides referral pathways for further support.

Don't be a bystander: how we can all work towards preventing family violence (1.5 hour session)

Designed to furnish both male and female staff with tools to enable conversations about family violence in a non-threatening way. The interactive session provides an overview of what family violence is and its impacts, whose responsibility it is to stop it (everyone’s) and what we can do as individuals and collectively. Participants will be able to use the tips and tools at work, home and in social settings (eg sports, leisure).

Strengthening Resilience (staff-focused)

Designed to provide pre-incident training for staff to build resilience to stress, foster group cohesion for fellow worker support, develop positive thinking to help prevent stress and build staff members’ abilities and strategies to cope, recover and thrive in the event of a stressful incident.

Building Resilience (managerial-focused)

Designed to introduce understanding and skills in trauma-related stress management, defusing situations and critical incident stress management processes geared to support staff over time. The program covers how leaders can manage an incident and provide appropriate debriefing. The purpose is to assist with managing and stabilising situations and to position management as a support for staff.
